Colors for Fall 2009
Colors trends have always been influenced by world events and with the last year’s economic woes and environmental awareness, designers are looking to make a statement in their color choices. So it’s not surprising that the biggest news for what’s hot and relevant in Fall 2009 are colors that make us feel confident, energetic, vibrant, hopeful, warm and optimistic.
Purple is the “it” color of the season with its vibrant and imperial nature. In every shade of purple, you’ll see greyed purple, vibrant purple, ruddy purple, bluer and fuchsia hints. Its hue is perfect to pair with classic neutrals like brown, grey and black.
Yellow is still on the rise and brings a warm take this season as compared to Spring. The colors of honey in addition to traditional yellows are leading the charge to energizing life back into the rebuilding movement.
Grey, Grey, Grey! Grey is the new black. Not only will grey be everywhere but many different colors will be greyed-out. This grounding and earthy color will have hints of post war, militant edge in fashion.
Blue is the new take on environmental living. “Be green” is being replaced with blue. Blues found in nature like ocean blue, sky blue and even more vibrant blues like the wings of a Blue Morpho butterfly will encompass the blue statement.
With all the newness of each season, there’s still a familiarity that keeps these colors comforting and at the same time, the vibrancy is keeping the feel for Fall 2009 optimistic.
